Before the appointment
Write down the symptoms, when they began and what changes them. Gather previous engineer reports, photographs, supplier letters and any pipework plans. Confirm who can approve access and repairs, especially in a rented home or shared building.
Access that helps
Make known stop valves, the water meter, heating controls and manifolds accessible where safe. Arrange parking and entry through gates or managed buildings. Tell us if isolation affects other occupants, equipment or a business process. Do not lift floors or dismantle fittings simply to prepare.
At the end of the work
Ask about the findings, repair testing and report. Discuss any separate reinstatement needed and keep the workmanship warranty information with the job records. An enquiry is not a booking: the job and appointment must be confirmed before the £100 deposit is requested.
